CWGC corrections

In February 2018 I found an error in the Commonwealth war Graves Commission records for 457783 Frederick Charles Defoe. The had his Regimental number listed as 457763. I notified them of the error and was told it would be looked into. Today July 31, 2018, I received an email advising that the correction has been made and a new headstone was installed. Fred Defoe enlisted with the 60th on July 7, 1915. He was wounded at the Somme and transferred to the Canadian Casualty Assembly Centre at Folkstone in England. April 21, 1917 he was transferred to the 87th Battalion. he was killed in action on May 15, 1917 and is buried in the Canadian Cemetery No 2 – Neuville St Vaast, France

Changes…….

One thing I have discovered is that change is none stop. As I work through all of the information I want to include on this site I find I am constantly changing where and how everything is laid out. Right now I am amalgamating the monthly highlights with the war diaries. My goal is to have a page for each month with all of the battalion information for that month in one location. If you find something missing or not in the right place, patients, I am working on it. If you are looking for specific information let me know I have it all somewhere.
